Eastland is my favorite brand of casual shoes and boots, other than sneakers which I have not tried. I like the fit, style, and find them to be very fairly priced given the quality. You CAN and SHOULD buy higher quality if you wear the same shoes daily and wear them hard, or you need true work/hiking boots, but these will last you for years with average use and be comfortable. These boat shoes are great for casual wear and are my new summer favorite. Look sharp and are very comfortable bare foot, with only some break-in. Personally, EVERY and I mean EVERY shoe I have worn barefoot needed some break-in regardless of the promises in the ads (DO YOURSELF A FAVOR...buy KT blister tape for use with all your new or barefoot shoes...amazing stuff.). NOTE: they a foam insole, which will likely soak up more water than a leather or other insoles...if you are a boater/sailor, you will likely be happier with a a different boat shoe.My fit advice.....I wear and true size 9 med in almost all street shoes and 9 or 9 1/2 med in most sneakers (Nike I sometimes need a size 10...go figure). For these shoes, a size 9 med fits me great with no socks, the way most people wear them. If you wear anything other than thin dress socks, you might need 1/2 size bigger. These Eastlands feel well-made, comfortable, and I expect them to last a long time. I have never owned boat shoes before these, nor have I ever worn any sock-less shoes as an adult. After 1.5 months of semi-regular use, I find them to be comfortable for hours at a time if I am not doing any distance walking. You may, however, begin to feel chafing on your heel if you are too active with them on. Just plan accordingly and they will be a great addition to your wardrobe. It's worth noting that I occasionally feel the insole lifting up under my toes in one shoe. This may be perfectly normal, as the insole has not shifted at all from its proper position. These small critiques kept me from giving 5 stars.Pictures and descriptions accurate.Construction seems to be pretty decent.I have not been able to figure out how to arrange the laces as seen in the picture; they are long enough that I must knot them over the tongue like would be done on traditional boat shoes. One of the reasons I ordered these particular shoes was for the less-cluttered, "tucked in" laces lookI bought Eastland over Sperry Top Sider because I had previously bought Eastland Camp Mocs over L.L. Bean Blucher Mocs and loved them. This is the same story. The Eastlands are more substantial than the Top Sider and are more comfortable. This shoe will last quite a long time. However I wish they would recalibrate the color brown versus the picture in all the sales adds and as above. The brown really is a good brown but the picture is more golden as you can see above.Defintiely a 5 star.....Pretty good boat shoe for the price. There is an elastic that holds the shoe tight around the instep that annoyed me a lot. So I simply removed it with scissors and the discomfort abated. I also had to reattach the insert with glue. So with a couple of modifications, the shoe is fine.a little expencive for a basic shoe, but best price I found. This shoes are comfortable, quality made, good looking leather, and the fit is ok. I'm happy with them, hope it last long.I had to remove the beautiful innersole that came with the shoe but now it fits.
